Bank of America and Hapo leave Gesa in the dust.

Recently we tried Bank of America on Columbia Center they are the most friendly, helpful and geniune group. Excellent service and also Hapo leaves Gesa in the dust when it comes to service. The people at Hapo are geniune and really are the hometown atmosphere most people appreciate. These two do not push the sales culture that Gesa Credit Union has begun to do. I recommend these two fine institiutions over Gesa anyday.

B of A has not treated me well....

All I ever found with Bank of America was a fee for this and a fee for this and then when I needed help all they could say was call a 1-800 number for claims. And then they didn't refund anything that was THERE fault, they even admitted it was there fault! So I say No to the Fee monster.

And Hapo I can't even begin to describe how they screwed up my car loan so bad! I had insurance on the car that I purchased and they charged me for there full coverage insurance for 6 months until I finally got a notice saying OH PS YOU OWE US FOR YOUR CAR INSURANCE! So I go into a the Kennewick Branch on Union and show them proof of insurance for he whole time I have had the car and they say "WELL WHY DIDN"T YOU BRING THAT IN EARLIER?" I let them know that I just got the letter, show them the postmark on the letter, the hm and ha a bit go talk to another person that says "I don't know"....they were ridiculous I wait 1 hour!!!! for these boneheads to figure it out and then they send this younger college kid over to tell me, "Well sir you have to pay it" and I say NO I dont, show them everything again and he said "If you do not pay this we will go after you in collections and destroy your credit". What a piece of XXXX?

So I say screw the BIG monster B of A and screw the HAPO (that thinks there bigger than they really are) I like U.S. Bank, they tell my straight and they have a list of things that are plain and simple do's and don'ts and thats it!

interesting opinion

That wasn't our experience with Hapo or Bank of America. It is good to know U.S. Bank is good. I just feel both Bank of America and Hapo are much better than Gesa. Gesa seems kinda phony.

Gesa's Employees

My boyfriend needed to have someone notarize his paperwork for a job he was applying for. The main headquarters of the company is back east, so we needed someone with a notary stamp to take a look at his driver's licence and his social security card, then sign off and stamp that they verified that he had both and they were authentic looking, meaning not damaged or altered to the naked eye. Basically the same thing a cashier or bartender does when you get carded.

We went to the Gesa in Kennewick the one not far from Hwy 395. A young girl who looked like she had been staring at the clock for hours said she could help us.... we explained what we needed.... she then said she wouldn't do it becasue she doesn't know if his social security number is valid, or if that really was him.... OMG My boyfriend is a red headed Irishman!!! I'm hispanic, and I would have expected something like that if it was me, but not him! Racism in the world and all... but come on!!! She obviously doesn't know what the rules are for carrying a notary stamp. The only way to verify a social is if you run a background check. The company would do that once they got a notarized copy of the id and ss card from someone with knowledge on detection of altered or fake ids, did infact see his identification, and demmed it to be authentic and not altered in any way... That is all she was responsible for! She's not going to be held responsible or relieable if he's an illegal... the company would be for hiring him if his id came back faulty.... She told us to go somewhere else... she wasn't going to do it... we went to the UPS Store just across the way and the girl there laughed and said the Gesa chic obviously doesn't know what she's talking about or what she's suppose to do with that stamp... I wanted to go back and talk to the manager at Gesa, but didn't want to waste anymore time in Gesa.

Gesa has a lot of odd behavior to me.

I understand exactly. The whole system there is a sales culture now. Not the friendly hometown place anymore.

In defense for Gesa

I am an employee of Gesa for about 2 1/2 yrs. I will admit we have changed from when I was first employed, but it has not changed for the worse (apparently that is what Opportunity has implied.) Gesa does not "sell" anything. We offer FREE services to help our members manage their accounts. We DO NOT get any type of commission for any of the services that we "sell". I know for sure B of A and Hapo do, because the employees have actually told me!! I don't understand what Opportunity is talking about, when they imply we are phoney? Are we phoney because we are trying to focus on our customer service? Or are we phoney because we ask if you like a refreshment while they wait? I don't understand what the problem is. I'll admit that we might be a little too nice, but I rather be too nice than rude like most Big Banks.
As for the notary situation referenced by Purple Alien 77 Gesa does NOT notarize copies of anything (such as a SS card or ID).The reason being, we do not know if you are giving us a fraudulent paper and then having us notarize saying "yes this is a true and correct copy". We only notarize SIGNATURES and forms with actual Notarial Language, not typed up, homemade letters (unless you type the notarial language.)Technically, being a notary we can notarize any document, but since Gesa pays for our Notary licenses and stamps we follow their rules. The reasoning behind that is because Gesa does not want their employees to be held liable for something that could go to court. I am sorry if you have had such "bad" experiences, but compared to other financial institutions I would say we at least strive to be the best, whereas other places could care less. I really hope you have better experiences next time :)

Employees not the problem.

I stand by my opinion, Gesa has changed not for the better. I know. The employees are wonderful people. They are not the problem. Some employees there have been treated badly. I know.
